Why does your breath stink… SO much?

It's an age-old human problem, all cultures throughout history absolutely hated the annoying mouth stink.

In the ancient Jewish Talmud for example “stinky breath” was even considered legal grounds for divorce!

So, where does it come from?

See those little guys?

They’re bacteria.

The very same bacteria that cause all of this stuff to absolutely REEK:

Don't worry!

Bacteria is actually meant to be in your body, it's not just normal, it's vital to keep you alive.

Trouble is, like all living things, bacteria need to eat.

So your mouth bacteria chomp down on whatever they can find…

Mucus

Bits of food

Dead tissue cells

Whatever!

But in order to absorb the nutrients in these food sources they gotta break them down into smaller more bite-size molecules.

But, by doing this it releases some byproducts… like hydrogen sulfide and cadaverine.
